All my posts have come with me, just not my followers so if you can follow me at my new blog I'll be ever so grateful!!

I have to set up my blog list again which might take me a day at the rate I am going.

Doe a Deer, the cuter the better!

I can't seem to escape deer's these days. They are soo cute and seem to call to me! I found this guy/gal in a local charity (thrift) shop. The deer and the little fake flowers on a patch of  fake grass (all behind glass/plastic) and placed in front of a postcard.

I am wondering if its something they used to sell at tourist stops? Anyone know where Kate Kearneys Cottage is? I am going with Sligo or Wicklow! But will of course feel embarrassed if its a very obvious landmark or well known place.

Couldn't leave him behind.  Happily sitting in my studio. He can help this guy mind the threads.

I've found some great little treasures (well treasures to me, very possibly trash to others!) in the local shops lately. A little bundle of frames just waiting to be filled with my new fabrics as a display on the wall. Found some really cute angels today which are being put aside for the impending First Communion party.
This gorgeous fabric is from Holland, now that I put the pics together, there is a definite resemblance!
Dress is available in my etsy shop (link to the side of blog). Is it just me, or are deers everywhere?
Have a great evening!

Sneak Peek at new dresses and Etsy Ireland

Hailstones and sunshine, what a funny day in Ireland! Another month flying in. Still busy working away on turning my fabric designs into a collection. I was working on co-ordinating hairbands and headscarfs today to compliment dresses. I even made one for myself which is a little unusual as I tend to only make for children or for the home (that is despite all those wonderful patterns waiting to be cut on my shelf). Here is a little sneak peak of what I've been up to!

Last month I was lucky enough to be invited to submit for a pop-up shop in Rua Red, Tallaght, Dublin. This is a picture of the window, you can spot some of Lollipops & Daydreams makes in amongst all the fab goodies. I am a huge fan of  Moobles and Toobles ( and their wonderful new organic baby range of babywear. Our shop is over now but they have a new one full of many more Irish makes, well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Lollipops & Daydreams featured on the Etsy Ireland team blog, you can find the full article here.
There was three profiles featured and I loved finding out what inspires others and how they work.

Hope you are having a great weekend,

Dresses and fabrics and dresses and fabrics!

Can't believe it is crawling into March already, where is the time going? Very quickly this year! The rain and stormy weather is finally easing up and the spring flowers are out. My son helped me plant a lot of bulbs last year and has been waiting very patiently for them to bloom. There's something special about flowers that you've grown yourself!

I've been busy restocking my etsy shop ( My daughter helped model some of the dresses for me, she is very patient!

I've also been designing fabric which is sitting on my cutting table right now waiting patiently for me. My sketchbook is full of drawings so I am working on translating the ideas in my head into actual dresses. I am making the patterns so each dress is being tested on other fabric before I cut into my own fabric. Its very a very exciting process and fingers crossed it all works out! I'll be camera mad when I finish.

I have a bit of a deer thing at the moment, they are so cute! I fell in love with this fabric and made a couple of dresses from it. I also have it vibrant pink which is earmarked for little cushions.

Speaking of little cushions, I have a line of doll cushions awaiting buttons. I actually love hand sewing the little buttons on, there is something therapeutic about it!

Right time to get back to the cutting table, rest over!
Hope you have a great week,

Studio makeover in progress

I can't believe it is February already, where on earth is the time going?!? Been busy in my new studio space, well it is the space space just a little made over. I've been having great fun filling it with lots of vintage treasures to balance out the Ikea pieces! Excuse the not so fabulous pictures in advance, I was using my phone.
These are my two gorgeous newly acquired dressmaker's dummies, sitting on my cutting table. In the back is my copy of "Miss Murray", some amazing photgraphy by Valg Studio and a gorgeous hanging sign from Clare Jordan Ltd. The cutting table is a large conference table from Ikea with adjustable height so I can stand and work. Money well spent.

I've made some new children's cushions which are made from vintage children's hankerchiefs sewn to new fabrics. I love the illustrations on these. These are sitting on a shabby white console table, purchased from Woodies about 7 years ago, I know it was 7 years as I carried it to the car with one arm and pushed my daughter in her buggy in the other. Then I had the whole how do I get this into the car? But it was only ten euro!! Ha ha. Covered in some lovely Cath Kidston oilcloth. The lamp is from Next (in the sale of course)

Some new dresses on the cutting table. Paper weights are from Dunnes Stores.

Dummies redressed by my daughter! In the background is an Ikea Expedit shelving unit, great for storage and those concealed "bins" can hide a multitude.

I will take some nice pics this week, its been raining non-stop and very dark so not great for taking shots.

The room works so much better now and is a pleasure to be in, its completely different in style to the rest of the house so it feels completely separate which is a good thing! Everything is organised from the fabrics to the buttons to the patterns. Now just the bookeeping to sort, eek..

Have a great day

Map Wall Finished, Toddler room upgraded

What a lovely sunny day it was in Ireland today. I might have to put my sunglasses back into my handbag at this rate. My planned map wall for the smallest one's room is finished, yeah! Ta da:::

I had an old Oxford Concise Atlas, which I managed to get from a library for one euro a few years ago. It was a library where we used to live in Co. Kildare and each week they sold off older books as they were replacing with new. (Co. Carlow libraries don't seem to have that level of funding!). The atlas was an old reference book and barely read so perfect for the map wall. I had no plan for the layout when I started. I mixed up the continents and the colours. I added to the wall using my miracle double sided sticky tape. I had to give up a few times as himself thought it would be a great idea if he came up the ladder too! Delighted with the result, total cost was 4euro.

This is a little mix of pictures I rearranged for over his bed. The teddy bear frame was a charity shop find and I repainted the frame on it before. The airplanes picture is a piece of fabric in an embroidery hoop (have cushions in this fabric for sale in my etsy shop). The "Boy" frame I made and the little picture on the bottom right was from a bargain bin in the antiques fair, cleaned up and added a ribbon.

These globes were Christmas decorations I spotted in TK Maxx and I thought they would be great in one of the boys rooms and not on the tree at all. I might attached them to the wall later on.

Very blurry pic, sorry! The butterfly picture is from "Forgotten Pages" on etsy and the frame over the teddies head is actual "gemstones of the world". My late father had this and it is all tiny samples of different stones, I think it fits in perfectly with the new wall and I love that this and the teddy below where things my dad bought.

Another blurry shot!!! This will be smallest one's bed when he moves out of his cot, its a 1940's bed-frame which has had a new base added. I need to change the curtains and bunting next.
Now to figure out what to do in my daughter's room!
Have a great day,
All the best,

Map walls - feature wall for boy's room

Having great fun redecorating the house this week, well its more a tidy and moving all the furniture around in rooms and clearing out the excess toys and books. Big load going to the charity shop this week. I received a copy of "Vintage Home" by Sarah Moore from my sister for Christmas, thanks sis!

Lots of great ideas, most are a little too floral for me but I was very taken with the idea of using old maps as wallpaper. The idea is to simply use a selection of old maps and paste them to the walls to create a very unique wallpaper. Such as these fab ones I found on pinterest,

Perfect for smallest boys room, now a toddler and no longer a baby, time for a room upgrade you say. Next problem, where to get maps? Well then I remembered the giant reference I bought from the library a few years ago. They were selling off books for 50cents and I couldn't leave the giant book behind despite it being very out of date. So first thing tomorrow, after the school taxi run, me and toddler are going to get cutting and pasting. All done and dusted by lunch time I reckon! So excited!!

Next up I have to get my submissions ready for a pop-up shop happening in Dublin from the end of this month until early March. Have some new fabrics on the table ready for cutting, great to be creating again. Oh and my workspace is nearly, nearly there, actually off to finish it now, pics to follow!
Have a wonderful week,

Happy New Year, Hello 2014

Happy New Year!!!!!!

Oh my gosh where did 2013 go? Hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and wishing you all a wonderful New Year! Hope it is filled with all sorts of fun, happiness and good times!

I have just about recovered from a very busy December between fairs and the Carlow Made pop-up shop and of course all the decoration and shopping and not to mention my three little elves! Who had a great Christmas and Santa was very good to them. I am still in complete appreciation and wonder of all the support Lollipops & Daydreams received last year and so delighted with the reception my dresses have received. Still smiling...

Have a list of New Year's resolutions all written up and ready to be tackled. Actually I have two lists, one for business and one for home. I tend to go a little cleaning mad every January which usually results in me emptying the contents of loads of rooms into hallways and then trying to figure out how to get everything back in again. We had a playroom at once stage which was taken away as the kids decided they didn't need it, mainly due to the fact that it meant another room for them to clean. So a serious meeting was held and it has been agreed to reinstate the room, I might be able to reclaim the living room! Which in turn is need of a serious makeover. Have my heart set on a mid-century and 1970s inspired room. . Once the playroom is done there's gonna be no stopping me!
Here's to a great New Year!
All the best,
